Course Overview

  • This course provides comprehensive training in functional urologic surgery for both female and male patients.
  • It covers detailed pelvic-perineal anatomy, functional pathologies, surgical techniques, new materials and technologies, complication management, preoperative planning, and applications of 3D modeling and printing.
  • Interactive discussions will support the integration of anatomical knowledge into surgical practice.

Aims and Objectives
The primary aims of this course is to provide urologists and urogynecologists with a comprehensive understanding of pelvic functional surgery through advanced theoretical instruction, detailed anatomical dissection, and hands-on surgical training, to provide step-by-step anatomical instruction of key surgical procedures in functional urology. The program is designed to establish a strong scientific foundation and enhance participants’ technical skills in male and female pelvic surgeries.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Perform detailed pelvic-perineal anatomical dissections using endoscopic-assisted and head-mounted camera systems.
  • Conduct male urethral dissection, reconstructive procedures, sling placement, and artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) implantation.
  • Execute female urethral support surgeries and vaginal dissections, focusing on anterior and posterior compartments.
  • Understand and apply surgical techniques for pelvic organ prolapse repair, including anterior colporrhaphy, sacrocolpopexy, and sacrospinous ligament fixation.
  • Gain essential tips and practical insights into sacral neuromodulation (SNS), supported by anatomy-based training for beginners.
  • Integrate theoretical knowledge, practical hands-on experiences, and surgical video analyses to enhance surgical decision-making and technical proficiency in pelvic functional procedures.

Urology, Urogynecology and Female & Functional Urology

Description
The total number of participants is limited to 30. Each participant will spend 45 minutes at each station to maximize hands-on experience and learning outcomes. Participants will have the opportunity to actively perform surgical procedures under the guidance of mentors. Groups will rotate between stations every 45 minutes.
There will be no scheduled breaks during the practical training; however, participants may take individual breaks as needed.

Course Contents
Lectures & 3D physical simulators: Hands-on training with 3D printed patient specific CT-reconstructed models and cadaveric models
